Filinvest City—jam-packed with exciting events in 2015
This year, Filinvest City’s verdant surroundings became the fitting venue for so many lifestyle and outdoor events that encourage Filipinos to engage in outdoor activities. Several popular sporting events such as the Condura Skyway Marathon, 7-Eleven Run 1500, Nike 10k Women’s Run, Color Manila, and the newly introduced slip and slide event in the country, Slidefest, all took place in the first half of 2015 in Filinvest City. Approximately 55,000 attendees took part in these events.

In the second half of 2015, there was Endurance Weekend 2015, a Filinvest City-initiated sporting event, Duathlon United and Run United Recovery Run.

Filinvest City had the start of several exciting new additions to its cityscape, such as the groundbreaking of the Far Eastern University (FEU) Alabang Campus. Key officials of the university broke the ground on the two-hectare campus strategically located near the South Luzon Expressway exit of the city, which has the capacity to accommodate up to 18,000 students.  The Alabang campus, which will be constructed in 36 months, will focus among other fields on science programs given its proximity to key research & medical institutions in the area, according to FEU officials.

Mall goers were also delighted with the addition of H&M to its store line-up as it opened another branch in Festival Mall, last November 27. H&M is located near the Carousel court at the second level of the mall.

On December 1, Filinvest City launched the third Christmas Musical Light Show at the River Park, Festival Mall. Invited guests and spectators around the area were able to witness and enjoy performances from popular crooner Jed Madela and the most sought after brass and string band in the country, the A.M.P. Big Band during the kick-off event hosted by Issa Litton.

Over 300,000 Christmas lights filled the outdoor attraction this year which lasted for 30 days, starting December 1 until December 30, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. There were also special performances held every weekend, which featured chorale groups and local musical acts such as Darren Espanto, Up Dharma Down, Jason Dy and Nyoy Volante.

There was also a Santa’s Corner where mall goers especially kids were able to pose for photo opportunities with Santa inside the mall and at the River Park. Every weekend, the light show was capped off with a dazzling five-minute fireworks display.

There is the streetscape enhancement along Spectrum Midway, which is part of the plan to even improve the city in terms of its common areas.
